Good morning all. I’ll be sending out two newsletters this morning.
We have a guest newsletter contributor this morning, Dean Huertas, who will be discussing the advantages and disadvantages of statehood and independence for Puerto Rico. That will only be for paid subscribers.

So, this is 40. I hobbled in to San Francisco on Sunday night with the same side pain I’ve had for months. The doctors never listen. A little more of the hair on my head has disappeared, a little more of the hair on my face has reappeared. I think they feel sorry for each other.
There’s a cool and misty breeze falling into the windows, followed by the sound of a fog horn. What is it about that San Francisco breeze? It just hits different. The combination of the fog that lingers through the leaves of Eucalyptus leaving the unbottleable perfume of minty petrichor. The morning mist creeps through the gnarly limbs of the Monterey Cypress in the Upper Haight, where a walk in GG Park can make you feel like you’re in an undisturbed forest. Until you catch the 71 to Downtown and see both humans and animals taking a shit on the sidewalk.
Hopefully, I’ll have the money and the patience to enjoy it in the future. Especially when I just paid $16,000 in taxes. Punishable by offense for not paying quarterly. But, that’s another story. I guess I should be happy that I was ever in the position of making that amount this year, while working for myself. Most people don’t get that opportunity, do they? I just wish all of the money I made for myself hadn’t gone to taxes, the book photographer and the stylist. Hahaha. Last week your girl was balling and considering taking one of those photos with all of the dollar bills fanned out? And now your girl is back to drinking Dollar Tree purchased instant coffee and Hazelnut-flavored Coffee Mate creamer. No lie.

We have several videos that could use some support. I didn’t do one this Monday because…it’s a lot of of investment for minimal return. Just remember, if you have a Gmail account, you automatically have a YouTube account. Every subscription, every view, every like and every comment is basically money. Because YouTube pays. This might be the only platform where Mami can have fun and get paid.
People keep asking about my shirts. Most of my shirts, especially the band ones, are shirts I’ve had since high school. These shirts used to be baggy AF on me and now I’m barely squeezing into them. Other shirts I find in the thrift store and online. This shirt is from one of my favorite festivals; Bumbershoot, 1991.
Thank you to all of the recipe developers who responded quickly and are keeping to the schedule and are now starting to send in their testing and photos! Y’all are amazing. Look at this beautiful photo one of my testers took of his finished Maduros. Alisson is Brazilian, so I knew he’d know what to do with a tuber. Haha.
If anyone of Mami’s Maniacs would like to send trinkets, Starbucks gift cards or nail polish:
