this is such bullshit. we do things *because* we want something in return. even beyond the financial, even if capitalism didn't exist yadda yadda yadda, we do things because we get something out of it. connection, satisfaction, education, confirmation, support, etc. anyone who does something purely to "put it out into the world" or whatever is full of shit. (or already swimming in generational wealth i suppose. but even then.)
anyway, i would LOVE to watch you on tastemade. since switching to streaming tv a little while back, tastemade is easily the channel i watch the most. and they have room. i would much rather watch you over jamie oliver adding ~fat free yuhgot~ to every dish for five episodes in a row from 2012. what can i say, i'm a tv watcher. i don't watch videos online, i admit. it's an attention span thing i guess. my partner could be like "this is the best video you'll ever see in your life and it's only two minutes long" and i would still never watch it. i used to listen to podcasts when i cleaned houses, but i don't do that anymore and i've tried listening to them at home and i can't. if i'm not doing anything my mind wanders and i don't hear anything. that's why i'm so glad people are doing newsletters and blogs again.
i read the sofrito project IG post, and then i read the comments. and i was bothered to see someone ask what the thing was in the picture. the terrible fucking irony of not even reading the post (which of course contained the answer) where the creator is pleading with you to hear and respect them. OP was very kind and gracious in their response. i would have roasted them, but i'm not going to walk into a stranger's IG and start shit on a week old post that doesn't belong to me. (but also i own the same peppermill and it's awesome. i have the clear blue one so i can easily see when the peppercorns are getting low. they have great customer service as well.)
what tf else can i type? an apology for my novella. and also a thank you, because i made the pinchos with guava bbq sauce and they were delicious. plus now i have half a jar of leftover sauce in the freezer for an easy dinner down the line. best of luck with everything, and can't wait for the book.

I feel you, it's so easy to get down. It's hard enough keeping up with maintaining whatever status quo you've established on each platform, much less jumping to the next one or, worse, the next medium. And I would DEFINITELY watch your show, so 🤞

I wish more people realize what if means to be a subscriber to you and your content instead of having demands of access to what boundaries you have already set.
I know I've encouraged my newsletter readers to follow and show love to you and other Diasporican writers/chefs whose work I appreciate. But the mistake in not tagging you when I do that is, how will you know when people are shouting you out? I believe I might not be the only one doing more "quiet" sharing, but it is indeed important to show support, actively.
And I'd watch the hell out of a Netflix show with you in it, for the record.
