I know! It's steep. Hence the Bob's Burgers reference. LOL! It's very much a product for either those with money and those who obsess over supporting their local agricultural commerce.
Love this recipe! Meat has become so expensive I rarely buy stew meat anymore. Lately chicken has been more affordable for me. But I think I'll try this.
Last year I won a Thanksgiving turkey and meal fixings from a local grocery store. It's still in my upright chest freezer lol cause it was just me last year for the holiday.
If one wanted to have a real bougie "farm to table" opportunity there was also a local ranch/ farm that did a choose your own turkey, kill, and processs it yourself workshop a few years in a row. It wasn't cheap at all but I imagine a very unique experience if you wanted.
The irony of course is my mother remembers her grandmother(my great
G-ma) used to butcher her back yard chickens herself all the time. I missed that era as she died when I was 7 or 8.
Whew 219 bucks for a bird most people seem to fuck up?

Beef is very expensive! But, I often find the stew meat (already cubed up) similar in price to chicken. You just get more chicken.

And there's my unasked for turkey stories 😂🤷🏽♀️🦃
My mom has several stories of her grandma killing chickens. LOL! I was fortunate to not have seen anything like that...until I went to Puerto Rico.
