I wish this wasn't happening for you two. I hate cancer, I hate how it steals health and peace and time at the very least. And that we are all somewhat in the dark, or removed to an extent, until suddenly very suddenly we aren't, and the learning curve begins steeply and actually never ends. I am sorry, and send lots of love and hoping you get the best staff on their best days, to care for Mami and help you out. I will be buying a bottle of the new blend and re-upping my other two. I am glad your back hasn't gone out. I send you virtual soup and hope you both get some rest, when you can.

"All together you have the trifecta of women and their personalities and upbringings."

Sazon, Adobo, Cali Guisado...

This right here is a beautiful, beautiful testament and tribute to yourself and the lineage of women you descend from. This is essentially your love language and legacy through food and nourishment.

As for what you shared about Mami and her diagnosis...much love....just, so much love

Cancer is bullshit. I appreciate the struggle of getting moms to eat, going through it too. Much ❤️

Thank you for this stunning heartbreaking, heartlifting compelling report from the trenches of Hello, Cancer! and the #unmanagedcare #carelesscare #thisaintright so-called health care system we in America have to deal with. I loved reading this, despite the terrible news and the unconscionable words and actions and burdens you are living through to take care of the incredible inspiring one-and-only Mami! "WTF is wrong with our medical system?" is a worthy question but for now, thank you for making this ordeal into a window into the real world and a recipe I want to make and another great video and a words-gift from you to us. Take good care of you two.

I'm so sorry and shuddered in recognition because I just spent the past 3.5 years going through that with my mom (UCDMC patient) before she passed a couple month ago. And then was in a Sutter ER recently where I had the same experience of billing and medical questions getting lobbed at me while hooked up to an IV. Even before COVID, our healthcare system was duct taped together and now when so many people got burned out (or disabled/killed from contracting that virus on the job), it's even worse. One of my sisters stubbornly wanted to do everything for our mom's caregiving, so we never tapped the regional resources that Sac County has to offer. Which yeah, it's even more work for the caregiver/advocate to suss this out on top of all their other responsibilities, but might have something helpful: https://www.agencyonaging4.org/ and https://www.deloro.org/

So sorry to hear about the situation with your Mami... the horrible disease itself is disheartening - but our horrible "for profit" healthcare system is an abomination and a national embarrassment that just compounds misery. I am wishing strength and resolve to you both.🙏🙏

on a more upbeat note - I am going to buy the new spice blend and make this delicious sounding Chicken Tinga. Thank you for sharing.

Sending support and thoughts to you both. My Dad is struggling with the medical system (heart problems) now, and I'm feeling helpless doing what I can but mostly watching from halfway across the country. All I can say is I'm sorry and wishing you the best. And also thanks for the Cali Guisado spice blend, my jar arrived last week. I'm looking forward to using it in green chile stew this fall.

Navigating the health care system is nearly impossible for anyone who is well, let alone someone who is sick. It's a full time job. Sending all kinds of positive vibes and support to both of you. The healing power of freshly prepared food is so important.

As always rooting for Mami and absolutely rooting for you.

Cancer is an asshole. Our medical system was never meant to "work" for patients. It all sucks.

That said, I am holding you and Mami in my heart as you go through this. What a wild ride you've had recently. :(
